As the title suggests, this news article's goal is to spread the dA love into everyone's heart! You will find here a little bit of everything, from awesome interviews with talented artists, art features, group promotion to random deviants' features. I hope you will find this informative and entertaining!
Tell us what defines you as a person.I'm a dreamer. This caused me a bit of trouble growing up – I had my head in the clouds and a very difficult time concentrating on schoolwork (doodling was occurring as well). I always had a penchant for all things 'fantasy'. Fairy tales, ghost stories, sci-fi, mythology and cartoons helped shape me. I'm pretty grounded now, but I always make time to dream.
How did you found out about deviantART and why did you join the community?I came across some fabulous fan art on the web and followed the link to the artist's dA account. I then started browsing the site and was instantly blown away. Here was an online community dedicated to artists showcasing their work, sharing their techniques and receiving feedback from other artists and art enthusiasts. Awesome!
Where do I sign up?
When and how did you discover your passion for art?I honestly can't remember. Even when I was very young, I was drawing. My parents were very supportive. They bought me an easel before I was even in school. My dad gave me my first art lessons. My mom drove me to weekend art classes the entire time I was in high school. I used to tell everyone that I would grow up to be either a Disney animator or book illustrator. Art was something I always did.
What inspires you the most and when do you think your creativity is at its maximum?I'm a nocturnal artist. Mornings tend to be confusing for me. The afternoon poses too many distractions. I'm definitely at my creative peak at night. I do get jolts of creativeness during the day where I have to drop everything and sketch out my ideas. But I do my best work at night when I'm focused and relaxed.
For inspiration, I look to nature, art and my friends.
What do you think you'd be doing if you hadn't chosen this path?Probably more of what I'm doing now minus the art.
What do you think it's your most meaningful deviation and what makes it special? Does it have a story behind it?Dark Birds is the most meaningful for me. I can be a moody person sometimes. Everyone has their inner demons to deal with. The dark birds symbolize the dark places a person's mind could go while the white dove is held close to the heart where love wants to grow. I was longing for balance and peace at the time.
Do you have any insecurities regarding your art?Yes, I see all the weak points in my work. I'm always wondering if I could have pushed myself to do better. These insecurities help me because if I'm unsatisfied with something, I'll try to work harder to improve. It keeps me on my toes and prevents me from becoming lazy.
Did art ever helped you to deal with your life problems?Yes, art helps me live well. It makes me happy.
What is the one thing you always wanted to do but never got a chance to?Illustrate a book. This dream of mine hasn't happened – not yet at least.
A few words for our fellow artists?Broaden your knowledge and experiment, but never abandon what made art special to you in the first place. Keep creating and practice - a lot!
