I can understand why some people become too involved with the characters and flip over when bad things happen to them, but they should know better since in the book's universe no one is either straight up good or bad and no one is ever safe (i think this is why they can relate to some of them). Just like in real life This makes the show believable to me and will watch it even if the last character i like dies in the end.
I agree, all of these are reasons for overreacting and ruin the show in the eyes of other people. As i said before, that's why i enjoy it so much. Other fantasies have been great as well, LotR, HP etc but in the end good overcame evil. They had sacrifices but they also had a happy ending, whereas this one tastes more bittersweet. I enjoyed those more as a kid than i do now.
