Tell us what defines you as a person.

I don't even know where to start to define me, but surely I'm an italian girl of 21 years, and my real name is Martina. I love a lot of boring things and is not easy to understand me.

How did you found out about deviantART and why did you join the community?

I found deviantART long time ago, probably i searched images for some blog, or similar. I decided to join here when I started to drawing. I was 15 years old and had another nickname. I drew really horrible things, but I was very proud of those.

When and how did you discover your passion for art?

I've always been passionate, but when I was a teenager I was ashamed of this, I found it was stupid, but i was stupid. Now art is a very important part of me, but I still don't understand whether it is positive or not. It helped me so much, but at the same time it prevents me from doing many things, so is a double edged sword.


What inspires you the most and when do you think your creativity is at its maximum?

I can only paint when I'm inspired by strong emotions, as a strong joy, or anger, or sadness, and for this reason I can't make it a real job or business: is very difficult for me, often painful. I know it sounds funny, but as I said it is difficult to understand me. However, I must admit that I love painting and listening to music at the same time.

What do you think you'd be doing if you hadn't chosen this path?

I don't know if it's a path, or just a passage. I would like it much. I honestly have to solve a lot of things in my life, before I can say with certainty that this is what I wanna do. I'm still confused, but I'll let you know.

What do you think it's your most meaningful deviation and what makes it special? Does it have a story behind it?

A very important thing of my works is that I never decide beforehand what is the meaning of, I know it only when it is finished.
I was in love with Give me liberty for a long time, because when I finished it, I realized that my paintings were no longer as before, and that something in my way of painting was completely changed. Then, I'm deeply linked to Anorexia life, which is clearly a part of my life. This disease made me the person who I am: I felt to express hundreds of emotions in this way.


Do you have any insecurities regarding your art?

Oh, completely. I never really love what I do, but simultaneously I not tolerate well the negative reviews. Sometimes I think: "Why all these people appreciate my horrible works?" then, at other times, I think: "Why they don't appreciate me more?".
Maybe when I was a child I painted for my own sake, but now I can't. Probably i've lost my "purity".

Did art ever helped you to deal with your life problems?

Yes, very much, more than one might think. I sometimes feel trivial and useless, but having something that makes me special comforts me.

What is the one thing you always wanted to do but never got a chance to?

Going to live in Japan, get away from here.
